When a guitarist of impact passes, we can take minute to reflect. Ace Freely,
The Space Ace in KISS made it to age 74. From 1973 to 1982 he was on that KISS stage
with those silver stars painted around his eyes. He fell in his studio last month and finally died
of brain bleed.
Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, influence on millions of guitarists, cultural phenomenon all apply.
Ace had a lot of guitars, including a Gibson named after him.
But there was that one, the Light Guitar.
It was a blonde Les Paul from the 1950s.
He had the face routed to accommodate 1000 incandescent lights.
The lights were powered by a battery pack.
Steve Carr was the luthier. His partner was a toy designer, John Elder Robison.
John also designed a control panel for effects and Steve put The Space Ace inlay on the headstock.

Every Guitar Has A Story. Ace Frehley’s story will live on.
